The Baiji
O woe the weeping mother
For extinction has just claimed another
No more The Baiji be
No more to swim so free
In tears I cry for thee
The Yantze river still whispers your name
She remembers when you swam in her
Your beautiful call and gentle way
But now a hollow in her heart
A place where you no longer stay
Fishermen they loved you to
And many stories they told of you
13 only left in all the world
But sadly you have faded away
And you are gone forever from this day |
