Moonlight effects are very cool! They allow you to see and watch the natural behaviour of nocturnal fishes. I did this quite some time ago and thought I'd share it here.

I just finished this on my 55 gallon today. It is very easy to do.

Materials:
-Cardboard cut to fit under the canopy light(s)
-Blue plastic (I used a $5 dollar wall clock from Wal-Mart)
-Knife
-Hacksaw
-Glue

All I did was cut the cardboard to fit under the canopy lights. Cut 3 3 inch x 1inch slots in the cardboard. I did this twice (I have two seperate lights). I then split the cardboard cutting it through the corrugated part (wavy part). I did this to allow maximum clearance from the lights. Better safe than sorry. I took the clock apart and cut rectangles of plastic out of the face using the hacksaw. I then glued the plastic to the cardboard making sure to cover the openings with the plastic. Next I put both parts on the canopy, replaced the lights and turned it on. That's it. Now, you can run it for extended periods, but since it doesn't use LED's like most setups do your power bill will go through the roof. Below you'll find pictures showing the finished product.

Wow that looks incredible I think I might update mine that would be so soothing at night.. I had to make the photos smaller cause I am trying not to overuse the memory by the way( we might upset the forum hosters)

I understand about the pictures, but I had them hosted on Photobucket.com and just used HTML tags to link to them. No problem though. It's easier to view them now.
