Barney’s Shepherd
Barney was pensioner of very restricted means
Billy was his loyal German Shepherd,
With whom he shared all, including his dreams
This Dog I have, I love so much, he is my only friend
One day...Barney broke his leg
Now no one else lived in the house except his loyal Shep
Barney was paralysed and could not move an inch
His poor dog knew,his master he must protect
So he got a cloth within his mouth and dipped in his water bowl
For 3 Days Billy worked to keep master alive.
Finally Barney's niece came round
And saw just what had happened
Now Barney survived this terrible ordeal
One thing we all agree
If Billy his dog, had not been there with love and care
No Barney more would be
Note this was based on a true story that was in the local paper
