Lyrebird
In Sherbrooke forest and down Badgers creek
I’ll tell you of a wonderful Bird that is so meek
A beautiful creature of lace browns and Black
A beautiful tale that’s shaped like Lyre on his back
The male of the species a singer of old
His beautiful voice and a dance so bold
He calls to his Lady and to others all around
Come my sweet, see me sing , come see me dance
I will teach my love of woodland romance
In the leafy woods just near his mound
You might just see him dance,
you might hear his wonderful sound
The whirr of a chainsaw, or the crack of a Whip
Sound of the Cockatoo or Kookaburra clip
Many he imitates , many, his calls that abound
Come dance with me, and listen he calls
In green valley with a chorus of waterfall
Look at me he proudly coos
All for his lady his song he woos
For all is loving and born the spring
So delicate black fronds on lace fanned feather
He choreographs his every move
Upon his moss woodland stage
Not many can compare…
the Dancer of the forest...a pleasure heard
This magnificent bird...the Lyre Bird _________________ Antipodi
