With all the animals that are on the endangered or recently extinct list to test everyones knowledge ...I thought I would start up a game of clues and the winner of each guess then has to be an animal that we need to guess through more clues leading to that animal....I will go first and hopefully somebody will get the answer.... Once you have sucessfully guessed it will be your turn to give clues for a special animal
About seventy years ago in a southern Zoo ...I, the last of my species died...I got my name because of the colours on my body...I looked like a canine but was of the Marsupial family ..There are pictures and even film of me but it is all very old...Some say I still roam my country ..but no body has actually proved i still exist...Who am I?

there are 3 species of me found in europe, i will grow to about 25cm long,i have a tail,but you cant see it. i weigh between 800-1,400gm. im active at night and twilite. i am noisy,can run and climb.
hibernate in winter.i have a great defence system (very needle like) and roll into a ball.
what am i ?
