my step neice's cat is urinating under her bed.
i have heard they dont like citrus/lemon smell.
i know of a product called feliway which is good for stress.
does anyone else have any other ideas or products she can try if all else fails ?

Litterpan or Elimination Behavior Problems
Litterpan problems are very common in cats. It helps to think about this problem from
the cat's point of view sometimes when trying to deal with it. Cats like to have a clean,
inviting place to defecate and urinate. Remember some of the dirty bathrooms you have
had to decide whether to use or not, and you can relate to this feeling. So it is very
important to make the litterpan as attractive as possible for use.
Keep it very clean. Use a litter that the cat likes. The clumping type litters are the
most commonly preferred litters in surveys of cat preference. If you are not using
this type and your cat has a problem, it can help to switch.
The litterpan should be in a convenient, but private or at least semiprivate site. It helps
very much to have one more litterpan than you have cats. In multi-cat households
where this is impractical, it can help to give the problem cat access to the litterpan,
alone, for several minutes twice a day. When a cat is using a place in the house other
than the litterpan to urinate or defecate, the opposite is also true. You want to make
these spots unattractive. Cleaning the area with an enzymatic cleaner so the cat is not
drawn back to the same site helps. Putting plastic or aluminum foil over the area, if
possible, can be very helpful. Putting the litterpan at the site the cat prefers, then very
gradually moving it to a site you like can be helpful.
Cats may not be using the litterpan because they are ill. Cystitis (a bladder infection or
inflammation) is a common problem that can lead to litterpan aversion. One theory is
that the cat associates the litterpan with the painful sensation or urinating with this
disease and avoids it. Some anatomical defects can lead to an increased need to
urinate frequently. Diseases that increase the need to urinate, like diabetes and
hyperthyroidism should be ruled out if that seems appropriate. Disorders that might
affect a cat's ability to get to the litterpan, like low potassium levels in the bloodstream
or arthritis need to be considered. If there are no medical problems and good litterpan
maintenance is in place, then the problem may be behavioral for other reasons. Some
cats are not using the litterpan because they are marking territory. This can occur in
either male or female cats. It is more common in cats in multi-cat households, especially
if there are five or more cats. It can occur when an inside cat is bothered by frequent
appearances of an outside cat at the windows. In this case, limiting access to seeing
the other cat can help. Urine marking behavior is often responsive to medical therapy
with medications like diazepam (Valium) or buspirone (Buspar). It can be responsive
to megestrol acetate (Ovaban), but this medication has significant side effects that must
be considered. It should be a last resort medication. If a cat is not neutered this is often
helpful, even after urine marking (spraying) behavior is established.

1) Anti-Icky-Poo by MisterMax
Anti-Icky-Poo is a serious product with a funny name, using genetically altered bacteria (microbes on steroids?) and enzymes to perform its dirty work. Anti-Icky-Poo also works on other kinds of organic substance, such as vomit, although it was primarily designed to combat urine odors.
2) Bramton Oxy Solution
Bramton Simple Solution works with hungry bacteria, which eat the odor-causing components of cat urine, leaving behind carbon dioxide and water. The formula is safe on fabrics and carpet - anywhere water can be used.
3) Cat-Off by Thornell
Thornell products contain no bacteria or enzymes, but use a combination of adsorption, counteraction and bonding (chemisorption). It works with various forms of odor-causing decay, and is usually available through your veterinarian.
4) OdorXit
OdorXit is a "contact chemistry," meaning that it works by direct contact with the odor-causing substance. It works in the same manner as the Thornell product, and the manufacturer is very candid about what it will and won't do. A plus is that it can be used safely with detergents.
5) SeaYu Petrotech Odor Eliminator
Petrotech Odor Eliminator is a fast-acting solution to dozens of odor problems found in the home. It does the job it's advertised to do, efficiently and safely. Petrotech comes in two versions: a spray applicator and a direct stream. I found the spray method quite effective for eliminating odors in garbage cans, even stinky shoes, and the direct spray did the job on carpet odors.
6) Nature's Miracle
Nature's Miracle is a well-known enzymatic product, and is guaranteed to be safe for use on all water-safe materials. For best results, do not combine with detergents, or use after carpet has been cleaned with detergents.

Are cats very sensitive? Mitri is one of a hellcat! She is demanding, snobby, and mean. She is a house cat and very dainty. I love her and I let her do whatever she wants. One problem is that she never stops whining until I give her what she wants like her food and treats.

i think they are a bit fussy sometimes. Mitri sounds like my Gizzy he's snobby and mean, but not too demanding.ours are house cats also.

All cats have individual personalities ..many because of their regal disposition share this type of trait...We used to have a cat called Schilling that used to love sitting on strangers laps purring for a minute and then putting their claws deep into the persons knees needless to say many scream was heard from our loungeroom ..but schilling was also very loving to her familiy ..I think all cats have a mischievious (or sadistic) streak and love to play tricks on their human companions...

Thank you for the response. I was laughing. Then I went to mitri and started hugging her too closed to my face, but I am still scared she might bite me. I already have many scratches on my leg it's because I love to play with her. She hates when I comb her fur down her lower spine. She always warns me to quit bothering her by staring at me so meanly and she’ll bite ha ha ha !
