 Dairy products cost lives !

i live in the Uk and i was shocked to hear about how we get some of our dairy produce. we just take it for granted, and dont realize what really does go on in some of these farms. please find out how you get your food.
as soon as the pregnant cow gives birth, her baby calf is shot in front of her.
Why ?..so it doesnt drink the milk.
so we can have milk, cheese, butter etc.
i will not support this disgusting trade, i will in future cut out all dairy products.
there is no need for this cruelty !

Having lived on a dairy farm when I was young I can assure you there is no need to kill calves ..something is very wrong and maybe the farm is motivated by greed ..it sounds like your need to find out more about this it may need some combined effort to ensure this barbaric practice is stopped ...I will see what I can find out ..I am sure when claves were born we would feed them milk and special substitutes ..Not all farmers are like that ...

I have just read the UK vegetarian site you may have got your info from and I say much of it is Hogwash..We as guardians of the animal kingdom must realise that there are extremes on all sides ..Sadly what is on that site about cattle is only talking about the greedy in the industry...My dad was a cattle farmer (Milk) and he would almost go to tears when any of his herd got sick and died..In fact it was a year when a number got sick and died that made him leave the industry..It my dad that instilled the love of all animals in me ...Also there info on the site about hen eggs ..again innacurate ..Free range hens get treated like Princesses and Princes..I even had pet chickens when I was young ..we had them just for their eggs..If the people who are trying to stop animal cruelty dont get their facts straight ..we will loose crediblity ...please dont believe extreme views as many are based on lies..similar to the ones that are told about animal lovers by those who would wantingly kill all animals for pleasure and sport ..which I am and will always be against...

my mum and i have supported Hillside Animal sanctuary for many years.
i used to buy RSPCA monitored chicken, until on tv they exposed the truth.
that not all RSPCA monitored farms were infact monitored at all.
the results were over fed chickens sittin on sitting on their urine, too fat to stand. results were hoock burns on their legs.
these hock burns were and ar still visible on the chickens on the supermarket shelf.
this is where i have this information from, i can assure you i make nothing up and that i dont believe everything i hear unless i trust it.
i do need to find out more , like is it every pint of milk that the animals have been dtreated in this way.
the only point i have not mentioned here is that it is the males that are killed because they cant give milk.

in the UK we have been led to believe that free range is good.
but some farms do not adhere to the rules and still chickens are kept in and crowded.
it is people like Hillside that expose these farmers
thank goodness for people like them, otherwise we would know no different.
i must look into organic farming, maybe they have a more humane approach .

Dear js.....you and I share a similar concern for animals and it is so sad what is happening and being acquired as accepted practice not all farmers are like this but you are right to expose any that are ...we must however temper these views with a knowledge of the fact that many farmers too are conservationists sometimes for necessity as well are their sense of caring as cruety is not good for quality farm production ...Believe me not many Australian dairy farmers do this type of practice..none that I know of anyway...Yes chicken farmers have a lot to answer for ..they or at least many need to clean up their act and as for Pig farmers ..well ...I dont like eat or like pork anyway....

i havent bought pork ham bacon or sausages in years, not since i saw a programme exposing what hell they go through.

i dont think my garden is gonna be big enough.
one day i'd like to have a shetland pony. ive been told i have just enough room for one.
plus i would need to be able to look after it and being outside would cause me some problem. a phobia i have is the problem.
still never mind, you cant have everything you want in life

what im trying to do is find out in the uk which farms are not using this cruel method. to see whether or not i can still buy dairy products.
i will not support this horrible act and if it means not buying dairy , i will have to find alternatives. i thought organic may be the answer, but no, they do it too.
do you have factory farming in your country ?
is this happening there also ?

ive looked into goats milk, but im affraid its a similar sad story, the female kid is kept, but most males will be killed at birth 
only a few kept for stud.
so jersey cows, any hope there i wonder ?
